FCPL 2019 ANNUAL MEETING
FRIENDS MAKE A
$10,000 DONATION !!!
On December 4, 2019 the Friends of the Chicopee Public Library presented
Chicopee Library Director Nancy M. Contois and Chicopee Library Trustees
Normand Girouard and Carolyn Fitzgerald with a $10,000 donation during the
Friends Annual Meeting held in the Henry J. Bazan Community Room in the Emily L. Partyka Central Branch on Front Street in Chicopee MA.
The Friends is dedicated to continuously raising money for the Library’s benefit and to bring fun and cultural events of broad interest to the
city and residents of Chicopee, and spend each year dedicated to raising much needed funds for the Chicopee Public Library, to benefit the
many special programs and wish list extras that would otherwise go unfunded. Many events are held and efforts expended to raise these funds,
which offset the cost of numerous items and services the library offers such as:
•Subscription to Ancestry.com, •Purchase of a beautiful Yamaha Baby Grand Piano,
•Beautiful Fish Tank & Wood Support Stand in the Children’s Room, •Re-usable family passes for area museums,
•Books from Gold and Silver Sponsors of the golf tournament, •Large wood bookcase for Children’s Supplies,
•Restoration of the Bellamy, Robinson and Stearns portraits with beautiful new frames,
•Large format Laminating Machine, •Canon Digital Camera, •HP Photosmart Printer,
•Extensive collection of seasonal decorations, •Puppets for Library Storytime,
•Sponsorship of the Children’s Summer Reading Program, and much more.
Due to the Virus concerns and closing of the Chicopee Public Library, the FCPL Art Committee will be mailing all Awards to winners directly, and
will notify all participating Artists about when they can retrieve their artwork after we are informed about when we will have access to the Library once again. In the mean time, all art remains safely in the Library until further notice.
For a list of winners, please see the Fine Arts page.
